Kumaresan Selvaraj's installations are ethereal visions which elegantly bring to life the space around them. Layering paper and patterns over organic forms while structured with geometry, Kumaresan works mesmerize. As much as our gaze is drawn to the intricate detail, is it drawn to the strong presence of the installations themselves. The tangible textures combine to create a wonderfully layered effect, reflecting his own history, visual philosophy, and environmental influence. As though illustrating moments of time with each layer and colour, Kumaresan invites a wondrous gaze and deep introspection.
Kumaresan graduated from Madras University, Government College of Arts with a B.F.A. in Painting.
His recent solo shows include ‘Lines of sight’, Exhibit 320; Ahmedabad Art Fair, Exhibit 320 (2018); 'The Journey Within', at ART HOUZ Gallery, Chennai (2018).
